my class has only 5 people in it so we get individual focus alot but my spanish teacher is really mean to me all the time and she always insults me and embarasses me in front of everyone because i have a naturally quiet voice that i can’t help
its eating away at my already low confidence and belief that i can actually master spanish
i want to drop the class because of it but the principal won’t let me
what should i do?
it happens everyday
its worse cuz its front of everyone
What hs course is it? I had a shitty Spanish teacher in hs, which lead to me stopping my Spanish sequence, (but I went through Spanish 4 so it didn’t really matter–my mom’s a native speaker). But yea I’d drop that shit if you have a crap teacher its not worth it. The best way to learn a language isn’t in the classroom anyway. Its spending a couple months at least in a Spanish speaking country–you’ll pick it up fast, don’t worry.
well is there another teacher that teachs it?
and if not, you can maybe talk to your guidance counselor about it and even maybe your teacher…. maybe like after class or after school just pull her aside from teacher and tell her how it makes you feel when she makes fun of you in front of everyone and humiliates you. Dont let it get to you just ignore and and think of something about her that sucks! hahah. No but definatley try to talk to either a counselor or better yet the teacher =]
*Tell the principal avout it
*have parents email principal
*Have your parents email the teacher
Tell the teacher EXACTLY how you feel. Be like, Can you please stop embarresing me in class. And other things that is on your mind about that class. Or you could write a note to her.. Or have your mom call in, or email her. Im sure your spanish teacher will understand once you tell her whats on your mind.{ maybe she wants you to be more confident to} Anyways, what ever you do, Good Luck!
tell mom and dad to call the school board. go over the principals head.
Stay after class one day and confront your techer on the subject. Tell her it bothers you and that you would like to be treated differently. Hopefully you two can work out somthing. Good Luck!
Change to a different class or speak to your teacher or principal about your issues.
dont be afraid to sreak up. after class one day tell the teacher how u feel or write a note. thats not rite for anyone to do stuf like that.
go to the principal saying really how much she is hurting you. if the principal doesnt care, tell your parents, and get them to go to the principal. good luck.
get over it.
It sounds like you’re stuck there so just start learning to speak louder. Did you ever stop to think that your teacher notices your lack of confidence and is trying to help you? She might be going about it the wrong way but learning to speak up now can help you with other things in the future. It’s really not a bad thing.
Ps
If you keep saying you have low confidence, guess what? You always will have low confidence because you keep talking yourself into it.
I had such a pretty Spanish teacher…but I still did poorly…and now I have to support people in spain at times (Wish I looked in a book instead of at my teacher…) anyway…I would suggest talking to the teacher and telling him the his crtizims are effecting your ability to learn…Let him know that you want to learn….you want to pay attention and learn, but you cannot do it if you are scared to even answer a question..
If the teacher will not listen then he/ she is an idiot! Talk to your parents, guidance counslor….write a letter to the principal and the superintendant of schools. in other words …be a squeaky wheel!
Don’t give up trying to learn Spanish just because your teacher is rough. Linguistics is not an easy thing to master so don’t be upset that you are not catching on as quickly as the teacher believes you should. She apparently is embarrassed by something she has done and like all bullies is trying to put you down for it. Don’t let her succeed in what she is trying to do. Know that she is a petty, petty person and just don’t show any emotion when she insults you. Give her a stone faced glare and leave it at that.
I think the problem is you and the teacher is trying her best to help you. If you change your attitude and understand that the adults have your best interest at hand, you will learn to overcome your quiet voice and spanish. Would you like a teacher who ignores you and doesn’t care at all and at the end of the session just gives you a grade?
maybe she hates spanish too.
Learning another language is hard and takes concentration and paying attention. You want to start with self respect and don’t allow others to make you feel indifferent. Your you and you have rights as a student and the teacher could be making you as an example. Sometimes being mean can be translated as pressing you to do better. Suck it up and try your best and that’s all she he/she can ask of you. If this doesn’t change, speak to her superior, the Principal. Maybe even talking with teacher after class may settle allot of doubts and misinterpretations and confusion that is causing you to be upset. Good Luck.
Tell the Principal he (or she) can kiss your a$s! You’ve already explained that you have a problem and if the Principal won’t do anything about it then just don’t go to the class, or better still go to the class and put your feet up on the desk and ignore the idiot. I swear, the best thing that can happen to kids like you is to get in trouble and get expelled so that you can get over your fear of authority figures. Some adults are just as capable of being dumbasses as kids are.
Don’t give up. I am taking up Spanish as well but it’s just purely for personal interest in learning a third language. Our class professor is an arrogant, unapproachable yeller. I’m not really low on confidence but not also rich with it so it didn’t help that he’s not the kind who likes to entertain a lot of questions but when we make a mistake he raises his voice and shows his pure irritation in front of everyone. You said you really want to do it and master Spanish so just think of it as something you need to deal with. Focus in class and get ahead with readings so that you can prove you’re interested maybe your prof won’t be so hard on you if she sees your effort. Put more effort in modulating your voice because it is important for her to see if you are learning things right and really, if you want to communicate well in a foreign language, you have to speak up. =) Best luck! Get through this and really, you will have more fun as you go on.
your issue isn’t your teacher — it’s you.
you need to get a team approach to your "self-confidence" that includes YOU taking the lead and telling others what you need to start learning.
Your teacher is not a mind reader. SPEAK UP. If not now, when in your life will you ever start spealking up for yourself? if not in school, where? Where else iwll you find people willing to listen and change their behavior to help you learn? and if YOU DON"T DO IT, who the heck will?
Self-pity – NO!!!! Self-directed — GO!!!! You don’t have to know how it will all end to make a good start. Come on, we’re with you.
Look at the good stuff everyone has written, and now, get off your rear and GO FOR IT. I mean NOW.
You need to get over it. get more self confidence. effort yourself enough to learn Spanish and you can prove yourself and the teacher that "you can ". you can be ahead don’t quit. in life you will always find challenges and things that you don’t like it but they beneficial for yourself. So take some deep breath look at yourself in the mirror and tell to yourself you can make it and get over it.. Good luck!!!
Just continue your class, i sure it no longer.
Ignore what she said to you, only 4 people saw what she did to you right??
Well, i tell you about my experience.
Used to in my high school, my chinese teacher is so mean to me and she always treat me like i’m stupid, can’t write or read chinese words..
When i’m late or do something wrong, she will said some words that can make u r in fire and she said it in front of 25 people in my class.
But i don’t care, i show her that i can do it. I try to wait till the day, then i move from that school. I happy now, coz i’m free of her now.
Note: She’s the daughter of the school owner, so it made it worse for me and she made every teacher hate me and asked them to be carefull of me.So that, not only her, i have some teacher treat me like her..
So, from my experience. I hope u can do like what i do. Show her that u are ok and unbreakable, do what she ask u to do and wait till the day..
Good luck
